Sony BDV-E370 Sony 5.1 Blu-ray Disc System - Best Home Theater in a Box (21)

Sony BDV-E370 Sony 5.1 Blu-ray Disc System [3D Compatible]I purchased this item for $249 on April 25, 2011 after searching for a home theater in a box for nearly a month. It arrived the next day.

I have spent a lengthy amount of time comparing this package to other top name manufacturers of similar products. (i.e. LG, Samsung, Panasonic). Not only did I find this to be amongst the cheapest of the bundle, I found it to have an outstanding array of features. If I had no information as to what this unit cost I would have guessed $400-500 given my experience using it over the past few days.

To break it down:

5.1 Channel Digital Surround Sound Speakers
3D Blu-Ray Player
Audio Inputs: 1 x Optical, 1 x Digital, 1 Set RCA
AM/FM Tuner
Remote that was easily programmed to also work with my LG TV
Media Remote app for iphone serves as complete control and works great.
A front and a rear USB input.
Excellent Sound quality and probably the finest subwoofer I've heard that is not independently powered.
Easy firmware update and audio/video adjustments
Superb collection of streaming internet applications (Netflix, Youtube, Pandora, Amazon, etc)

I also ordered both an Amazon Basics High Speed HDMI cable and Amazon Basics Optical Audio Cable. This was all that was needed to connect to my television.

It functions well with my LG television and I have also connected a 320GB external USB hard drive I purchased nearly a year ago. Using my iphone Media Remote app by sony I can completely control the unit, explore the contents of the hard drive, watch youtube / netflix in great clarity. Blu-ray looks great and performs well.

Things it doesnt have:
HDMI input ( It functions great with the optical audio input from my television but you can never have enough HDMI inputs if you ask me)
Wireless Rear Speakers (Though it does have the ability to add them, the speakers included must all be hard wired. The cables are lengthy though)
WiFi (This too can be added but is not included in the package. I have no problem running a regular ethernet cable into the back of this though)

To sum it up I am more than delighted with what I got for the money. It has everything needed for a home theater. Its the best bang for the buck and its a Sony. Five Stars.
